Calabash

In 1998 CALABASH was the first schooner to be built at Gannon & Benjamin. After being passed between a few owners over the the first 30 years of her life, she found her way back home to Vineyard Haven and Gannon and Benjamin. Brad Abbott, one of the co-owners of the boatyard, fell head over heels for her and led the extensive restoration of CALABASH. She was partially re-framed, had her cockpit re-built, a new deck put on and her interior re-fit to better suit Brad and his family. During her first season back in the water after her restoration she raced and won first in her class at the Gloucester Schooner Festival.
