LARK
Originally built by Lawley in 1932, the 45’ John Alden designed gaff-cutter LARK was re-launched in July 2020 after an extensive rebuild in our shop. LARK is an excellent example of one of our full restoration projects. LARK was re-floored, re-framed and re-planked in keeping with Alden’s original design plans. We re-worked her deck, cockpit, and interior to better suit her new owner. The only original parts that remain are her wooden keel, lead ballast, a bit of stem, bowsprit, head door, and deck hardware.
A testimony from the owner:
“Everybody who touched this boat, really touched it with a great sense of history, of appreciation for what she symbolizes and is as a wooden boat in an age where there ain’t much left of that kind of appreciation for quality […] The value of workmanship and artistry, of loving what you do, is special.”
